A.zdb file is 150 percent larger than the actual Mailbox

Purpose

A .zdb file is 150 percent larger than the actual mailbox.

Resolution

GAL and other stuff is stored within the .zdb file, but also mapping could have been removed on data in the idm file that wasn't deleted within the ZDB file. There is a command to compress the ZDB within the profile.

To do this, go to the Windows Control Panel > Mail > Show Profiles > select your profile > Properties > Data Files > Settings > ZDB Configuration > Compact ZDB

There's also the way files are stored on Windows filesystem versus UNIX which will show a discrepancy. DOS uses CR/LF on every line where UNIX just has a LF.
