Zimbra Collaboration 8.8.6 Hotfix
Purpose
This hotfix includes following fixes for on 8.8.6 GA:
- Bug 108414 Null pointer Exception
- Bug 108839 Address uncontrolled heap growth in ImapSessionManager::sessions
Please re-check your ZCS version. This hotfix should only be applied on 8.8.6.GA.1906. Any issues after hotfix, you revert the changes by ./install_patch.sh -r
IMPORTANT NOTES:
- 1. The install_patch.sh script should be run as root.
- 2. This patch may safely be installed on:
- 1. Unpatched 8.8.6GA.
- 2. 8.8.6GA that already has zcs-patch-8.8.6_GA_HF_108414 installed.
Resolution
To install the hotfix, first thing is to grab the hotfix from our downloads website - Second, as a root, unzip the package:
# tar -xvzf zcs-patch-8.8.6_GA_HF_108839.tgz zcs-patch-8.8.6_GA_HF_108839/ zcs-patch-8.8.6_GA_HF_108839/install_patch.sh zcs-patch-8.8.6_GA_HF_108839/patched_jars/ zcs-patch-8.8.6_GA_HF_108839/README.txt zcs-patch-8.8.6_GA_HF_108839/patched_jars/zm-store-8.8.6.1516807620.jar
Now, still as root, move to the new folder and run the patch:
cd zcs-patch-8.8.6_P1_HF_108839 ./install_patch.sh
You'll see an output like this one:
Backing up jars. Installing Fix for Bug 108414 and 108839 Installation completed. Please restart the mailbox.
Final step, as zimbra user, is to restart the Zimbra services:
su - zimbra zmmailboxdctl restart

- In case you want and extra help, the patch has the -h variable you can run:
./install_patch.sh -h Usage: ./install_patch.sh [OPTION] ./install_patch.sh install hotfix for Bug 108414 and 108839 on 8.8.6.GA.1906 -r revert the patch.
- To revert patch, in case of any issues, follow the next step, as root:
./install_patch.sh -r Reverting fix for Bug 108414 and 108839 Reverted the patch. Please restart the mailbox.
And then as user zimbra:
su - zimbra zmmailboxdctl restart
