Check out the Security Fixes, Fixed Issues, and Known Issues for this version of Zimbra Collaboration. Please refer to the Patch Installation section for Patch Installation instructions. As always, you are encouraged to tell us what you think in the Forums or open a support ticket to report issues.

Security Fixes

Summary CVE-ID CVSS Score Zimbra Rating Fix Patch Version
Earlier, any authenticated user could view a GAL contact from another domain on the same Zimbra installation. After this fix, AutoCompleteGal request does not allow access to GalSync accounts of other domains. CVE-2020-10194 2.9 Minor Joule 8.8.15 Patch 8

Fixed Issues

ZCS
  • Earlier users did not receive notification emails for read-receipts and email received on the alternate email address. These notifications did not look up the zimbraSmtpHostnamevalue set on the domain level. After this fix, users receive all notification emails sent by the server.
  • Shared calendars added to Mac Outlook via EWS caused synchronization loops on the Zimbra server, flooding exception logs and impacting performance. The only viable workaround was to restart the mailboxd process on affected servers. After this fix, Shared calendars work with Mac Outlook without affecting performance and running into synchronization loops.
  • zmdialog utility now captures top, ps and netstat output for all server and not just the mailbox server.
  • Earlier, users' mailbox folders were interspersed with mailbox folders of a shared account when they accessed their mailboxes through iOS devices. After this fix, the shared mailbox folders and user mailbox folders appear separate for easy discernment.
ZCO
  • When using ZCO 8.8.15, users were not able to send emails, using S/MIME, to distribution lists. The issue has been fixed.
  • The ZCO shipped with 8.8.15 did not completely sync with the address book and some contacts remained unsynced. After this fix, all contacts now sync with ZCO.|-
  • The ZCO shipped with 8.8.15 did not properly sync with GAL and some contacts remained unsynced and users could not search them. After this fix, all contacts now sync with ZCO.
  • New groups in Zimbra Web Client did not properly sync with Outlook. Expanding a group in the To field revealed missing users. The list only became usable after removing and adding the users. After this fix, all groups sync with the Zimbra Web Client and display the contacts they contain correctly.
  • Earlier, if users added a custom field when creating a contact in Outlook, that field was not visible when accessing the same contact through the Zimbra Web Client. After this fix, if users add custom fields when creating contacts in Outlook (e.g., Department), those fields now correctly sync to Zimbra Web Client.
Zimbra Docs

Improved tab handling logic so that the cursor’s position in the document is maintained after switching away from and then back to the document editing tab.

Zimbra Drive
  • Drive search pagination is working if the zoom is too distant.
  • Every item in the menu only appears once.
  • All elements are shown and no duplicates appear in the search results.
  • Fixed issue with drive copy button which was not working as expected when entering and then leaving a directory.
Zimbra Mobile
  • Added a new log level for both general NG logging and Account Loggers called trace.
  • After enabling the zimbra account logger, there are no changes to the amount and type of information being logged.
  • Added 2 items (16.0 and 16.1) to EAS protocol option.
Zimbra HSM
  • doMoveMailbox "Moved zimbra db items" counters report the correct information.
  • Removed "powerstore" text from mailboxmove output.
  • Fixed RemoveOrphanedBlobs operation so that items will be recoverable from the Dumpster and no errors are reported in the second doCheckBlobs operation log.
Zimbra Connect
  • Right click context menu now working in IM input.
  • While creating a new group (probably also in space/channels), when a user select a contact the focus should remain on “Add participants".
  • Appropriate email address and display name will be displayed while joining instant meeting.
  • Using the Connect Tab, a message longer than 4 rows the message text scrolls so that the cursor is always visible.
  • It is now possible to paste images directly into the Connect chat box to send those as files.
  • After upgrading to 8.8.15 Patch7 some Connect users encountered "migration failed" errors. After this fix, Zimbra Connect users no longer encounter errors during the upgrade process.
Zimbra Backup Backup: When the Backup Path is being initialized, deleting an item from a mailbox when the engine is backing it up returned an "Item not found" message since the list of items is fetched by the Account Visitor at the beginning of the process.

Known Issues

ZCO
  • In ZCO, searching through GAL using the shortcut key Ctrl + K sometimes takes a longer time than expected.
  • Existing contact group members become inline contacts if we add a new member to the list from ZCO
  • MS Outlook may sometimes hang when ZCO syncs with Zimbra Web Client.
  • Contact group members lose all contact information, except email id, after syncing to ZCO.
