How To Reset Calendar & Contacts Data on Mac Desktop

In some rare cases you may need to completely remove all calendar and contacts data from the Mac dekstop and preform a fresh re-sync of the data from the Zimbra server to the Mac desktop with the Zimbra Connector for iSync.

  • Close iCal, Address Book, Safari and Mail. Verify they are not running by using the Activity Monitor. Ensure no other SyncServices clients are running (any program that might sync data to iCal or AddressBook).
  • Open a terminal window
  • Run the following commands
killall SyncServices syncuid
/System/Library/Frameworks/SyncServices.framework/Versions/A/Resources/resetsync.pl full
  • Remove the following folders from the file system
~/Library/Application Support/SyncServices
~/Library/Application Support/AddressBook
~/Library/Calendars
  • Empty the trash and verify the folders have been removed from the system

At this point your address book and calendaring data and local sync state have been removed from the system.
