CalDav and Mulberry

Introduction

Zimbra 5.0 Supports the CalDAV standard. CalDAV is a protocol allowing calendar access via WebDAV. CalDAV models calendar events as HTTP resources in iCal format, and models calendars containing events as WebDAV collections.

This allows users to publish and subscribe to calendars, share them collaboratively, synchronize between multiple users and synchronize between multiple devices. The CalDAV standard is an implementation of iCal(The standard, not the client) on a WebDAV server.

When using CalDAV, all of the user's calendars are added to Mulberry.

Originally developed for the Apple Macintosh, versions now exist for that platform as well as Microsoft Windows and Linux using the X window system. Mulberry's strengths include strict compliance with internet standards such as IMAP, LDAP, IMSP, ACAP, and iCalendar, and support for IMAP disconnected operation.

Requirements

1. Zimbra Collaboration Suite 5.0 RC2 or higher
2. MacOS, Windows, Linux
3. Mulberry 4.0.8 or higher

Configuration

1. Once Mulberry has been downloaded and installed, run the application
2. Open the Preferences. On Mac: click Mulberry- Preferences. On Windows/Linux: File- Preferences
3. Select the "Account" dropdown menu and choose "New"
4. Give the new account a name, such as Calendar or Zimbra
5. From the "Account Type" dropdown, choose "CalDAV Calendar" and hit OK
6. Now that the preferences are loaded for your new CalDAV Account, select the "Server" text box and type your server name without http(s) or a trailing slash. For example, if my server were http://mail.testzimbra.com/ I would type mail.testzimbra.com - If you don't know this information, you should see your system administrator.
7. In the "Authentication" selector, select the "User ID" text box and type your username. username or username@domain.com are acceptable formats.
8. Check the "Save User ID" or "Save Password" if you wish to have Mulberry remember your username and/or password.
9. Select the "Options" selector, and select the "Path" text box. Type /dav/caldav/ in the box.
10. Click OK

Macintosh: Zimbra Connector for iSync

The Zimbra Connector for iSync syncs Zimbra calendars to iCal for Tiger (10.4) and Leopard (10.5). However, the sync is done using SOAP and not CalDAV. The Zimbra Connector for iSync does not support Mulberry, so any sync must be done to iCal(the application). Users are encouraged to use CalDAV whenever possible. Native CalDAV is supported through iCal in MacOS 10.5 only.
